The St. Elizabeth
Church and School Community is here to provide the holy
ground to an urban catholic community of leaders as we continue to
evangelize, educate and empower. Evangelization, in the name
of Jesus is our Goal!
St. Elizabeth Church
is the Mother Church of the Black Catholic Church of the Archdiocese
of Chicago.
We have a school and
preschool which averages around 250 students and 25 staff
members; teachers, principal, secretaries, musicians with choir
directors, maintenance workers, one priest and two orders of
religious sisters ministering in our church and school.
We have the Drexel center that
is again alive and well, reaching out again to the community.
We have begun a Sunday school program for our youth, a bible prayer
group for adults, a food outreach program that feeds around a
hundred poor and hungry people a month. We have one of the few
active men's organization from a Black Catholic
Churches. We offer activities for the growth and development
of our youth; provide counseling, sacramental preparation, marriage
preparation, weddings, baptisms, and funerals. We visit
the sick and the shut ins (hospitalized and home
bound).
We have a parish hall.
The hall is regularly used as a center for healing of people
struggling with abuse of and addictions to drugs and alcohol.
It provides a place for our school's after school program and other
community events. When not in use, the hall may be scheduled for rent.

the faith community of St. Elizabeth, with pride in our yesterdays,
commitment to our today, and hope for our tomorrows, renew our
pledge to commit our God-given gifts, talents, and abilities to the
enrichment of our entire community.
We further resolve to give witness to the gospel, to share
the faith we treasure, and to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit
to lead and teach us, so that we love and serve, heal and touch,
forgive and understand as Jesus has shown us by his example.
We acknowledge that it is the Holy Spirit who calls and
empowers us, who strengthens and renews us, and who gives us the
will to continue on this, our mission, until Jesus comes again in
glory.
We are a Church and School of believers in the Power
of the Holy Spirit.
